In Praise Of A Man Who Bought Time For Others

The man is Liviu Librescu. He was an Israeli engineering professor who taught at Virginia Tech. He was a survivor of the Holocaust. He knew how important life is. He knew the worst.

And he used his body and his life and his energy to thwart the expression of evil so others could escape and live. He blocked the door to buy time for others.

I salute you, Sir. May your spirit live on.

Hey Dad, it's matt!

I really liked this one. That man is a true hero and someone who truly knew the value of life, much unlike that fucking idiot/lunatic. It kinda got to me a little...a little bit touched by his bravery and a little bit fired up at the nonsense of this whole thing. It's confusing, scary and mostly upsetting.

There is no greater gift then what this man did...

It bothers me that there were so many signs that this young man was in trouble...why did noone step in? What is our responsibility as a society to someone like this? Is it a legal, moral or humanities question?

Hi Matt: I couldn't agree more, and you have a nice way with words - direct and to the essence.

Anonymous K: One of the people who did step up to the plate was the poet from Virginia Tech: Nikki Giovanni. My understanding is that she told him directly (?last year) that he was a bully and that one of them was going to have to leave her class, and that it wasn't going to be her.

She also put herself at the door.

Doing the "heroic" can be quietly done and yet it still is loudly heard.

Thanks for the comments

I have been avoiding the news, but still, some of it trickles through the filter. I did hear of this man too. May he rest in peace and happiness for eternity.
